I only listen to the phone-ins in the car on the way home from matches now having used to religiously tune in for Tony Butler's Friday night show on BRMB when the idea was new and exciting in the mid 70s through to the mid 80s. The novelty value has long wore off for me. Some of the people who ring up are an embarrassment to the clubs they allegedly support. I will give a special mention though to an Albion fan called Lee who rings in regularly after matches. He has a rant style all of his own. Hilarious.

There used to be a guy called Acker who was always ringing up back then and had great banter with the butler.

Yes, he was amusing, as was a guy called Ashok who used to ring from the Drakes Drum pub.

Ashok was a chap who rang up with an indian accent but he was a white chap apparantley. Both he and Acker are dead I think.

Ashok died quite a while back, he was only in his 30's. Acker was in his late 80's when he was calling in about 10-15 years ago.

I think Acker moved to Spain or somewhere abroad but he still rang every so often to moan about Doug.

Ashok was so funny. Loved his Wictorious Willa comments. Clearly a piss take, so glad they let him on. I didn't know he was dead, RIP.

A special mention for the Villa fan who phoned up Tom Ross on Friday night and commented that Bacuna's goal against Man City was a fluke and that he'd "never score another goal like that in his lifetime"

The days of Acker and ashok were when the phone ins were at their peak - nowadays is not a patch on - butler and to a degree George Gavin were both good at the job and entertaining too .

Paul "call me Franksy" Franks couldn't wait to tell us that Albion are still ahead of us because of their far superior goal scoring record, then he paused and said, 'oh it's just one goal', then quickly moved on.
It'll be just marvellous to beat the Baggies on their own patch just to hear him squirm.

I remember Acker saying he would refuse to pay his Council tax if the Birmingham City Council helped the blose build a new stadium.Tom Ross took it in good humour when he found out he lived in Spain, and didn't pay council tax !

All I heard Was Paul Lambert being particularly spiky with Pat Murphy for reminding him of how long we had gone without scoring a goal.
