Fabian Delph - Signed for Manchester City
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:07:30 PM »
I'd started to think early last season that he was going to become one of the "toxic" remnants of the MON era, but in the run in last year, in pre season, and so far this season, he has been absolutely superb.

He looks calm on the ball, holds on to it well, runs his bollocks off, and is getting better and better.

Does anyone know what he has left on his contract? given the raft of them we gave out over the summer, he must be in line for one?

He had an amazing game against Man City at home last year, and has just kicked on from there.
He definitely got a new deal under Houllier which takes him up to the end of 2015

Not sure if he's signed a new one since then.

Hasn't had a season injury free,if he does he could become a very special player.

Four year contract signed in March 2011 so he has two seasons left.

well worth a new thread. He has been simply superb. Technically excellent and works his bollocks off. Now that he is fit you can see how sharp he actually is, and how intelligent.

Did well to avoid being dragged down by the dross. Well worth his place. His value has gone up enormously as the team starts to gel. Lambert has 'managed' him well. Another great performance tonight.

Pubehead mentioned soon after buying Delph that he needs to watch his tackling as the way he dived in was more likely going to injure himself then the player he was going in for. Unfortunately this has proven true. But recently under Lambert he has reduced that so hopefully he will suffer from less injuries.

I first sensed he might start to crack on during the League cup match away at Norwich when he was finally put in a position that suited him and allowed him to make the surging runs that had marked him out as so promising when he first joined Villa.

And to think someone once said he was the player he'd ever seen in a Villa shirt.

I always defended Delph as I believed there was a player there.  I didn't expect him to improve this much this quickly though. Must be one of the first names on the team sheet now. Delighted for the lad, and for us.

He'll get a new contract this year for sure. Could become a very special player.

Add me to the list of those now eating their words. He's looking the real deal.
