Retiring No19 for one season will but a whole lot of pressure on whoever gets the shirt in 14/15.

So Stan's number has been retired. Nice touch.

Just for the season. I'm not a fan of retiring his number I have to be honest.

Me neither but I think the Club's got it spot on here with just the one season.

What number was the Zog until now? A lot of that 1-11 are so unproven it's scary.

10, maybe it's because of his injury, but I can't help thinking he's down with the others for a reason.

I wonder if Benteke prefers number 20 or if this is a very mild punishment?

N'Zogbia included with the bomb squad there.

It was on the cards when Dawkins got on the pitch ahead of him against Wigan. Can't say it's a big surprise.

If you include the already departed Dunne that's 7 players who played regularly under McLeish discarded, with a total of 8 currently in exile.

Indeed. There would be an argument that maybe you give Westwood or Sylla the number 8, but perhaps he's thinking in terms of the squad and if you're in, you're in.

don't the players pick their numbers ?  and IIRC did we not a few years ago auction of the numbers to the players to raise money for charity ?

not a fan of retiring shirt numbers myself, but to make #19 unavailable for the season is a excellent tribute to Stan.

No Siegriest, Burke, Grealish, or Donacien in the squad officially then.
good, they should be awarded when the players get into a proper matchday squad

Those days under McLeish were indeed dark. Sometimes, the passage of time can alter your perception. In this case I have to say memories of the McLeish year send a shiver down my spine.

We were a laughing stock that season. Imagine what would have happened if the club had stuck with it? We were on the road to becoming Stoke. Christ.
