Andreas Weimann's popularity among Villa fans continues to surge with replica shirts bearing the striker's name dominating sales.

Weimann was announced as Villa's new No.10 yesterday when the squad numbers for the 2013-14 were revealed.

Since the announcement, fans have been quick to snap up their customised player replica shirts - with 'Weimann 10' making up a staggering 95% of sales.

This includes shirt transactions in person at Villa stores, as well as purchasers from as far away as Australia and the Far East through our new online store.

"There has been a tremendous response from the fans since the squad numbers for the new season were announced," said head of merchandising John Greenfield.

"We've had orders come in from all over the world for customised replica shirts.

"The fans have really taken to Andreas since he broke into the first team.

"He is an academy graduate who gives everything on the field and these figures highlight his growing popularity."

Following the official squad number announcement yesterday, fans were able to customise their shirts via the new Kit Builder app on the online store.

The first three orders to come in were Tonev 24 [home shirt], Okore 5 [away shirt] and Weimann 10 [home shirt].

I wonder what this stat would have looked like if Benteke hadn't dropped a bollock.

I wish we could keep Bent. It's about time we had an "Oh shit, they're bringing HIM on" player.

Agreed. Whatever Bent's shortcomings he has a goalscoring record few in the league can match.

yet there is not a club in the whole of European football knocking the door down for his signature,
even though he has a For Sale sign hanging above his head

If you were an interested club would you be looking to show your hand early for a player who is clearly not wanted? We'll end up selling for less than £5m purely down to the size of Bent's contract. Lot of short memories on this forum regarding Bent. Without him we'd have been in the Championship. His only 'crime' has been not to be rated by the manager. Wherever he goes he'll score goals and will be a bargain imo.

I think both Given and Bent have done well for us when they've played and will do well wherever they move to.

I agree with that. I also admire their desire to play rather than simply just collect their wage. Now, Ireland on the other hand............

Wow Delfounseo has gone from 14 to 23 to 38 in just over two seasons.

Totally agree, neither have given Villa a moments trouble. Wish them well where ever they end up, both very decent players.
