Our results in recent Christmas fixtures have been pretty awful. Wouldn't mind a festive period being hampered by poor results.

Glad this isn't the other way round. Bummer for the Palace fans.

Not as much as a bummer for us to have travel to friggin Sunderland for a New Years Day kick off.

I remember going up to Sunderland on New Years day about ten years ago. I was aboslutely fine up until Scotch Corner, which is when I sobered up. Then it was murder...

Were you driving that knackered Astra of yours?

I recall one new years day game around 84 : 85 I think, I had some guy in a sheepskin jacket leaning all over my back at the game. It smelt like id given Ansells Brewery a piggy back.

But preferably not, surely?

I remember that game as well.  We'd been to friends for dinner.  Got home about 1.30 am ish.  In the morning got to Dorridge for the train into Birmingham.  It was running late and we were going to miss the train to Newcastle.  Ended up driving.

I also remember it was very icy or snowy.

Looks like a stay over this time round.

A lot of people seem to miss the Boxing Day derbies. I can remember going to three. Losing 3-0 to the noses in 1982, 3-1 to Leicester in 1985 and 3-0 to Coventry in 1992. All away, all defeats, and I have a feeling the last two were early kick offs. I will settle for Palace at home.

Sorry Percy, should re-read before posting. Wouldn't mind a festive period without being hampered by poor results. And England performing well in the Ashes. I can but hope.
