Norwich (h)
Fulham (a)
Crystal Palace (h)

would be a pretty perfect start for the season I think,

will probably end up as

Chelsea (h)
Cardiff (a)
West Brom (a)

Two shaky results in seven days and the first mention of relegation. Then a stunning win over somebody like Arsenal.

Whichever Manchester club has won the league always gets a home starter against cannon-fodder. This year it will be Man U vs Hull.

We will, inevitably, get a newly-promoted club in their first home game and, just as inevitably, lose.

We'll play all the top clubs at least once over December and January so they don't have the distraction of Europe and can concentrate on beating us.

We'll have an absolutely horrendous Christmas and New Year schedule, just to piss me off.

Newcastle away will be chosen live for television kicking-off at a time that makes it impossible to get there and back by public transport on the same day.

These are certainties.

As for speculation, I'll take a wild guess at Sunderland for our first home game, West Ham away and Liverpool at home for our last two games of the season, not sure in which order.

Sometimes its best to get the top teams early before they find form.

There will have to be at least half a dozen bogus sets of fixtures revealed and as many myths about how they're put together. The published set will be seen as proof the league are against us.

Something like Fulham home, I'm at V Festival and don't want to have to come back for Albion away or something!
