Shay Given playing away !

Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given has left his wife Jane and has hooked up with a lower league player’s ex.

The Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland ace quit his family’s £2million mansion and moved into a modest three-storey townhouse four miles away, where he meets up with nightclub promotions girl Becky Gibson.

Becky has separated from Nicky Hunt, 29, a right-back for struggling League Two side Accrington Stanley.

But pictures of her with the former Bristol City and Bolton player were still on her Twitter account yesterday.

Given, 36, Becky, in her twenties, have been spending nights together at the home he now rents in a quiet cul-de-sac in upmarket Wilmslow, Cheshire.

A source close to the keeper, capped 125 times for ­his country, said: “Shay and Becky have been seeing each other for a while and have been meeting up more and more often recently.

“She is a gorgeous nightclub PR girl and it is easy to understand what he sees in her. They met some time ago at a football event but it is only recently after Given split up with his wife Jane that they became a couple.

“They are spending a lot of time together and seem really keen on each other. It is a bit of a shock, though, that Shay and Jane have split because they have two children and seemed a really strong couple.”

 

Given’s split from Jane, 37, will send shockwaves through the football world, ­particularly as they set up and ran the Fashion Kicks charity together.

He met ­teacher Jane in Glasgow in 1999 while playing for Newcastle Utd.

Seven months later they were engaged and they ­married two years later in a ­Catholic ceremony in???Hex ham, Northumberland.

The couple, who have a son and a daughter, set up Fashion Kicks and have raised more than £1m for cancer charity Macmillan.

They have co-hosted star-studded fund-raisingparties in the North West and are regulars on the region’s social scene.

Given has previously ­spoken of his pride in his wife, who worked as a model to pay her way through ­university.

He has said: “I thought she was quite fit when I saw her. She is obviously super-intelligent. I don’t know what she sees in me.”

And last year he praised her role in the Fashion Kicks charity, which was set up in memory of Given’s mum who died of cancer when he was a boy.

He said: “My wife is the chief organiser and gives me the orders telling me I have to do this or that. Jane deserves a lot more credit than I do because she is the brains behind the operation.”

When he retired from international football last year, Given said: “I’d like to thank my wife Jane, my two amazing kids and entire family for their unwavering support over 16 years and 125 caps.”

 

The couple were due to host a Fashion Kicks event in Stockport on May 15. It was unclear whether they will now attend the red carpet event together.

Our source added: “Shay and Jane were thought to be a rock-solid couple so this is all a bit of a surprise. No one really knows what happened but their split has come out of the blue. They are trying to stay on good terms for the sake of the children. Shay makes sure he sees loads of them. Although this has happened, they are his priority.”

Becky works at Manchester’s Panacea club, a favourite haunt of footballers and soap stars.

She is well known in the city and on the social scenes of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, where she has been spending time with Given.

This week she spent two nights at the home Given has rented since moving from his gated family home.

On Friday, Becky waited for Given while he was training with Aston Villa, who take on Liverpool today.

After he returned from the Midlands, £50,000-a-week stopper Given and Becky kissed in full view of their neighbours.

Yesterday Becky, who had a long-term relationship with Hunt, refused to comment at the door of the house where she has been staying with Given.

Jane also declined to comment, while Given’s agent did??not ­return calls.

Hunt has moved from Wilmslow and is believed to have set up home with a new partner. Last night an Aston Villa source said that Given and Becky were not living together permanently.

Club spokesman Brian Doogan said: “Shay and his wife separated a number of months ago. In the interests of their young family, they expect that their right to privacy continues to be respected.”
