Also, honourable mention to Nigel Reo-Coker, who supplemented his inspirational organising of pre-match huddles, in which he proved himself to be fine captain material, with a tendency to engage in the odd bit of pointing himself.

Haha, as soon as I saw the title I knew Risso would mention Kinsella.

Now, there's an optical illusion.
You'd think that they were the same height, when in fact one is nearly a foot taller!!

Now. there's a piece of useless information  ;)

From my seat behind the dugout I saw Peter Grant do a lot of pointing and shouting but none of the players ever looked at him.

Westwood does this quite alot.I don't know if it is an individual trait of certain players or orders from the manager and coaches.

One who always does it and really annoys me is Bannon, normally when his man is over 5'1".

Wondered how long it would be before Bannan was mentioned.
I've noticed a fair bit of pointing, too, but most of it is pointing to where he wants to receive the pass.

Mark Kinsella was amazing at pointing.  He was usually stood still pointing at a player who'd waltzed past him like he wasn't there, but he did it with a style and panache that hasn't been matched since.

Indeed - I was going to suggest perhaps he's now on the staff as pointing coach.

I used to do a lot of pointing when I played rugby and football - only beacuse I was too slow/unfit to get to where I wanted so thought someone faster and fitter should do it!!  ;D

Has anyone noticed the amount of pointing our players currently do?

Well you need a trade once the football career is over!

Has anyone noticed the amount of pointing our players currently do?

Far too often an opposition player makes a run and, rather than the player who's close by and has seen it going with him, he'll point and shout at a teammate to run with/after the opponent instead. The player doesn't see this and so the opposition player is through.

You watch the game this Sunday and I bet it'll happen numerous times.

Players need to go themselves and not point at others to do the job they've seen needs doing.

Just making a point. It's been bugging me for a while that has. Feel slightly better that I've spoken about it.
you are taking the piss arent you?
