Hasn't this been the away game experience for the past 50 years?

No. Back in the day they could get on with kicking each others heads in, smashing bottles in each others faces, attacking the police, and thowing bananas on the pitch in one part of the terrace while the rest of us watched the game in another part.

You could report them to the club, and eventually the club might stop selling to those sort of people. Just worth a try.

In an ideal world yes Michael, but unlikely to be successful sadly.

It would also help if stewards started policing the "no standing" rule. Sitting does tend to calm people down and also makes it easier for stewards to spot those people that are acting up.

Yesterday Reading had a row of seats designated for people who could not stand (Wolfie was in that row). The two rows in front were covered with a tarp so that people were not standing directly in their view.

A practical approach but also an admission that despite the announcement that standing was not permitted, they had no intention of enforcing the rule.

I can't remember the last time i sat down at an away game, i don't think any away fans do anymore.

Newcastle away.

I had just spent two days on a stag do in Bournemouth so I was rather glad of my seat.

This topic seems to be a common thought amongst us. A small minority caysing grief for everyone else. I dare say that all it will take is a few good home fans to pick them off and maybe they won't do it again when they realize they are on their own

All very noble and I've seen it done, but it can cause more trouble than it's worth. For a start, you don't know how many of them are with the miscreants and if the stewards/police spot it, you can end up getting thrown out or worse yourself.  Sometimes the stewards overreact and relatively minor issues become nasty very quickly (there are loads of examples of this on youtube). Best to just report it and move away.

I was too pissed to notice any misbehaviour yesterday. 3 hours in The Gateway pub before the game. Missed our second goal because we were in the beer queue.

It's just football in general isn't it? Just be thankful it's not like some clubs where it's a not quite so small minority who behave like that.

I went yesterday with a girl from Reading...fortunately she'd been in the Villa end before so knew what to expect but many of our lot were on top form, especially with racism. I honestly didn't think we had a racism issue but I do now.

In general I'd say I'm more interested in booze and abuse than football.

But I don't go to any away games so it's not really much of an issue.

You're joking, right?
Partly, I was thinking in a purely 'good red wine and masturbation' way.

Sounds like a recipe for some stubborn staining

Thats the problem with all seater stadiums. Thats horrible sinking feeling at a sold out away match when you have four empty seats next to you at five past three, you now whats coming.

Certainly don't need any of that in the away end.
