Last game of season
« on: March 04, 2013, 06:17:13 PM »
Did not realise our last game is against Wigan at their place

If come last day we need a result their to stay up , how many do you think we would take

I remember a few years ago we took 4-5000? ,

I can imagine us looking to take 8000 plus via whatever means?

No chance of a ticket in the Villa end so I will be in the Wigan end. They never sell out anyway so there will be loads of spare seats.  :) :) :)

Given the potential significance of the game I can see them restricting tickets in the home end to North West postcodes only.

The last thing they want if we got relegated is a stadium full of Villa fans.

Shhhh - don't give them ideas. I'm banking on being able to turn up on the day and waltz into their main stand.

They are quite strict about who they sell to. A lot of the games against the big North-West teams don't sell out for that reason.
maybe buy a ticket for a forthcoming game (i think they are often only twenty quid) which would at least get you on their database.

The police will make sure we get around 3,000 tickets. They will not want any more than that there.

Luckily my in laws still live in Wigan.  I know quite a few people who work for Wigan as well, including their CEO and a coach.

If we go to Wigan on the last day and it is an "us or them" situation, then I'd back their experience of being in this situation and pulling themselves out of it against our naivety every single time, unfortunately.

Can't see how either team will be 4 points clear of the other going into the other going into the final game so yep think it would all rest on this.

Fear there could well be a big of trouble whatever the result.

I'd be happier if we're staying up or have been relegated before this one. The last thing you need is the Sky vultures waiting to pick the corpse apart. Unfortunately, it's written in the big book of sporting cliches that we'll go into it needing a win by a certain number of goals to have any hope of survival.

Not sure I can see us going there needing a point to stay up and losing in the last minute or something.

Wigan fans like to invade on the final game of the season. That will go down well if we're the ones going down....

I think it'll be one of two scenarios: either they'll stay up at our expense, or they'll stay up at somebody else's expense while we're already relegated. There'll be a big pitch invasion come what may. You know how Sky like their fairytale endings.

My other half is from Wigan so we usually go over for the game, explained to my son we'd have to go in with the Wigan fans for this one but he told me tonight he doesn't want to go now as he wants to be able to cheer Villa on and also doesn't want to be teased by any Wigan fans. I've got 2 months to persuade him to change his mind, doubt I'll manage it!
