When was this said and how long was it until we won our next trophy?

Impossible, it says we've achieved 'respectable mediocrity'.  We're currently nowhere near being that good.

It was said after Villa were beaten in by Derby in October 1904. We won the FA Cup six months later.  Nobody came close so I'm rolling the prize over today.
