Were We Humiliated at Millwall
« on: January 27, 2013, 04:18:36 PM »
I have read a lot in the papers and on here about how we were humiliated in the match on Friday.

Having just seen the end of the Leeds v Spurs match, the commentator summarised the match as a FA Cup shock.  He made no mention of Spurs being humiliated by the Championship team.  Considering Millwall are two places ahead of Leeds and we are light years behind Spurs, so why the difference in reporting.

Also, what about:

Norwich
QPR

and almost, Chelsea.

In my opinion, before the game the result was always on the cards, we did not play well and more agony was heaped on the supporters but were we really humiliated?

I'm sorry, going out to a lower league team will always be humiliation in my book.

So, what had gone before was used to comment on the match on Friday.  Hardly a factual based view of the game then.

This season is a humiliation. Maybe I read the wrong paper and listen to the wrong station but I haven't heard the Millwall defeat described as a humiliation but have where QPR are concerned.

It has been a cumulative thing - Christmas plus both cups - and those other FA Cup results do give it proper context. Our defending for both Millwall goals was humiliating for our players.

Different question, don't change the topic.

The Millwall result would have probably happened even if we were top 6. It's the fact that we lose practically every game we play and look like relegation certainties ,is why we are attracting so much attention at the moment

We have gone out of two cup competitions to teams in divisions below us.

It's humiliating.

To add to this; the teams we lost too weren't even good teams.

I think the season as a whole has been pretty humiliating.

I can understand what OMVF is trying to say. Friday was more expected than humiliating. Bradford was the other way round.

we weren't humiliated. both teams were poor.

i don't think it could be described as a shock either. a hostile ground and a team with no bollocks never bodes well.

journalists are going to stick the boot in. the demise of a big club makes a good story. it was the same with leeds united and when newcastle went down a few season ago. get used to it, it's only going to get worse.

Personally I didn't view at as a humiliation but I wish Lambert hadn't bothered with his "we deserved a draw" stuff.  When you've been beaten by a lower division side the thing to do is move on quietly.
