I liked the comparison of the meeting with Father Ted and the bomb.

I think it will be more like the scene from Waterboy in which Henry Winkler visits the home of Bobby Boucher, the waterboy of the Louisiana Mud Dogs to sign him as defensive blocker.   Momma Boucher says her son is never going to be allowed to play that "Fuzeball" so shut up and eat your snake sandwich.

Then you look for new targets. No manager operates expecting to get every single one of their targets. Thus they have 2nd/3rd choice targets on their radar.

There's a good chance that he will come over but it is probably WM just having a punt. If he doesn't show up it will be 'Lerner cancels plans to meet Lambert for showdown talks'.
