I'm too absofuckinglutely hacked off to talk about the match, but for anyone who noticed what was going on in the Holte during the first half I've just had this come through from the ambulance service.
An Aston Villa fan who suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after his team’s first goal in their Capital One Cup match against Bradford City is said to be doing well in hospital. The man, who is believed to be in his mid 50s, collapsed at about 8.20pm.
By good fortune, two members of West Midlands Ambulance Service staff, who were providing cover at the match, were nearby and rapidly started treatment on the man. They were very quickly assisted by volunteers from St John Ambulance. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The WMAS and St John medics worked together to give the patient CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), drug therapy and two shocks from a defibrillator. The man responded well to treatment and came round at the ground. He was taken by ambulance by WMAS and St John staff to City Hospital where he continues to undergo treatment. Whilst it is very early days, the initial signs are hopeful."
