Second Half of Games: Shocking Stats
« on: January 22, 2013, 10:11:31 PM »
So here is the Premier League table if matches finished at half time

Quote
1   Manchester Utd    23    13    7    3   46
2   Chelsea    23    12    9    2   45
3   Manchester City    23    10    10    3   40
4   Sunderland    23    9    7    7   34
5   Everton    23    7    12    4   33
6   Aston Villa    23    7    10    6   31
7   Fulham    23    8    7    8   31
8   Tottenham    23    6    12    5   30
9   West Bromwich    23    7    9    7   30
10   Liverpool    23    8    5    10   29
11   Newcastle Utd    23    7    8    8   29
12   Arsenal    22    5    12    5   27
13   Stoke City    23    5    12    6   27
14   West Ham Utd    22    7    5    10   26
15   Reading    23    6    8    9   26
16   Swansea City    23    4    13    6   25
17   Norwich City    23    5    8    10   23
18   Southampton    23    5    8    10   23
19   Wigan Athletic    23    3    11    9   20
20   QP Rangers    23    2    13    8   19

We are 18th in the table for picking up points when we're leading at half time: We have led in 7 Premier League games and picking up a mere 9 points from 21.

We are 20th in the table for picking up points when we're losing at half time: Zero points. 0. We have got 0 points from the second half when we've been losing at half time. The only club to do so. Embarrassing.

Our goals for and against in first half of games: 11 for, 12 against
Our goals for and against in second half of games: 8 for, 32 against

When do we concede these 32 goals?
45-60     60-75   75-90
3 - 11    1 - 10    4 - 11

This is only League form. Add in the embarrassing second half displays against Bradford and it paints an even clearer picture. Just what is Lambert doing to the players at half time? Why when we come under attack in second half of games do we crumble? Why does he make odd substitutions and changes of tactics in the second half of games? It needs sorting and it needs sorting now. We seem to have only one good half of football in us and these second halves are absolutely killing us.

It's not shocking and that's the worrying thing. I just wonder what he says at half time.

Another shocking stat, we have only twice come back from losing positions in premier league games to claim two draws, Swansea and West Brom home.

No fighting ability in the team.

its the lack of leadership on the field. the players can't handle the pressure. whenever we concede we go to pieces

I personally think the 8-0 has done us.

Results before: Liverpool 1-3
                       Norwich 1-4
                       Stoke 0-0
                       QPR 1-1
                       Reading 1-0
                       Arsenal 0-0

O.k not earth shattering but our best run of the season. That followed a 5-0 defeat at City btw. Just look at the difference, hardly any goals conceded at all.

To me the heads have gone after the Chelsea game, most of the young players don't believe they can do it at prem level.

That's why I'm not sure two signings will be enough this window, half the team needs taking out of the firing line.

It's because we come out at a very high tempo, and can't keep it up past half-time. Our last two games are very good examples of this. You've also gotta blame some of Lambert's tactics for this, going 4 up front tonight and taking off Zog at Albion being examples. We don't have a plan B and are prone to making panic subs.
