He was bought to take on the role vacated by Ashley Young.

Do you think he can do it?

Over to you.

His ball to Benteke was perfection.
He is taking a long time to get going but there are promising signs emerging.
One thing that he isn't is a cheat like Young is.

I've always had a lot of time for him and always hoped he would come good, it's early days but he may enjoy playing in the framework of the side that Lambert favours.

I'm sorry to say he couldn't lace Young's boots.

He's has shown recently that he is capable, it's whether he can do it week in week out.

Also off the ball he needs to work a bit harder.

It's a big act to follow, but I reckon he's capable of being a real asset for us.

Well, I've never rated him; his temperament is too flaky. However, yesterday there were glimpses of the player Wigan benefitted from in the latter stages of the previous season.
I will cut him some slack if he plays with the verve and spirit he showed in the first half.

Everyone i spoke to after the game (who watched it on the tellybox) was raving about him.

I find him very frustrating to watch at times but there's obviously a very good player there. I just wished he'd look up and pass the ball a bit more instead of trying to take on 2 players. He did that yesterday and looked better for it. Also i'd like to see him pushed out more wide.

It's up to him now to keep that form up.

He played well yesterday but overall I've been disappointed with his contributions when he's been selected.

True, but he's still better in that position than anyone else at the club. He has PL experience and can win games with his skill. He has to start every week for me. We need our big players on the pitch not on the bench.

Perhaps if so called fans didn't shout he's shit at every opportunity,  then he'd feel a bit more confident to demonstrate his ability.  Ask Wigan fans if he's shit after he single-handedly kept them up. Our home support has been dire since MON left.

I think he's more talented than Young, but lacks his effort and application.

But, I think he's turning a corner, and I think the manager likes him.

I'm pleased he has got rid of his habit of running the ball straight out of play, endearing as it was. We've finally got shit enough for him to start playing well. That's how it worked at Wigan, right?

We're starting to see a flavour of the player we thought we'd signed. Needs to find some consistency, both of form and fitness, but I think he's got a manager who wants to look after him, hence taking him off yesterday as he faded to protect him for Tuesday.

Bizarrely, players like him at their best when everybody else is below par.
Se also Young.
