Until we get a government which wants to raise the taxation on gambling then the betting boys will start shopping around again for association with names which will give them some sort of anchor of respectability and propriety.A founder member of the Football League forged from young men in the congregation of Wesleyan Methodist Chapel? Let them go and try to buy that prestige anywhere else.

Its not about the brand its about the money coming into villa...with all these relegation battles it doesn't matter who sponsors us we wont get the same amount of money... regardless of if we stay up or go down. This bad on pitch lark is now affecting the money coming in.. which in turn will devalue club impacting amount invested... and we are desperate for investment!

No point in reading too much into a deal that is about to expire anyway and a lazy piece of journalism. What do you mean by "big"?The Genting deal is one of the biggest in the league. They also might not be a household name here, but they are an enormous company.IIRC the deal is/was £16m over two seasons, pretty small when compared to the Sky money.

After the Acorns thing we went too far the other way with a casino sponsor. The difference in income between an unethical sponsor (alcohol, gaming, money lending) and more ethical ones (Mita copiers) is very little in the overall scheme of things.
