Dougie Brown confirmed as Director of Cricket at Edgbaston replacing the King of Spain.

Always thought they'd promote from within.

Good luck Dougie, he's a Bear through and through.

Happy with that, although it might mean he has to give up turning out for the Villa old stars!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Warwickshire will dominate the County Championship with relative ease. There's too much quality in almost every area that I don't think any other county can match. Hopefully Dougie can carry on with the good work started by Gilo, but if you consider that Trott and Bell will hardly turn out for the Bears this year, our top six is still one of the strongest in the country. Strength in depth indeed.

We'll be up there, but don't underestimate the loss of Giles, he'll be a big loss.

Quite fancy Pears vs Bears on 1st June. Haven't been to New Road. Is there any chance the ground won't be under water by then or have they still not got around to building anything dead high-tech like, I don't know, a wall maybe?

Good first day for the Bears. At stumps on day one of the now-traditional curtain-raiser Champions vs MCC match in the UAE we're 370 for 3.

Both Chopra and Porterfield got into the 160s before being dismissed.

Still going well... Bears declare at 561 for 6. MCC 73 for 7 (seven) in reply.

Two days to take thirteen wickets, should be doable. Hopefully it won't rain or snow in Dubai!

Great result for the Bears in winning by an innings and 29 runs. MCC lost 5 wickets for 50-odd runs this morning.

Bodes well for the new season, if it ever stops snowing!
