Statues?!
« on: December 20, 2012, 01:07:57 PM »
Having just read that the Blose fans feel thay need a statue (only because the Villa and Dingle have one and the Stripeys are having one of the three degree in the town centre), I was wondering who would be most worthy of being immortalised in the next VP statue to accompany William McGregor?

Mine would be Mortimer with the European Cup  held aloft.

Better than suggestions of Enkleman and Carr for SHA!

Funding an Enkleman statue would be the most small time thing I've heard of.

Whilst a very good shout, Rinder's of a similar generation to McGregor and it'd be nice to recognise another time in our history.

Mortimer holding the European Cup is also a great shout but I'm not a fan of building statues of people who are still alive.

Anyway, how much do statues cost?  I'd personally rather the money was spent on building a team to recreate the Mortimer moment.

Its just a discussion to highlight the heroes from this great club.  Nothing will come of it at the moment.

I've always been relieved that Dennis didn't swap shirts like most of the others did. Would have been shit if all the pictures like the above were of him holding it while wearing a Bayern shirt.

I think I saw him say in an interview that he wanted everyone to see the Villa with the trophy and thats why he kept the shirt on.  I imagine the team were very star struck with the Bayern Team hence the shirt swapping.

I wish they had all kept their shirts too. For a while I wanted them to have donned our claret and blue shirts but with age I think it more apt that they wore the shirts in which they won the game.

I am always amazed at how glum Bendall looks in that photo.

Ramsay. The most important man in our history without any doubt whatsoever.

Old Mac is there for what he did for football, GBR should be honoured for what he did for Villa.
