Sitting with the Others
« on: December 19, 2012, 10:37:23 PM »
Me and my two lads are in the Chelsea end on Sunday. I haven't sat in a home end for Villa away since the Arsenal League Cup semi final in 1996.
Any tips?
Presumably they think Bentekke is the real deal and will join in the songs?

Ask the fella next to you who he supported 10-15 years ago.

Sit on ya hands. speak infrequently. polite applause for all goals.

After all it is illegal to knowingly purchase tickets in the wrong end.

I did it at the Hawthorns when Baros and Davis scored in a 2-1 win and its tough

Turn up with your finest claret and blue scarf and if anyone gives you any hassle pretend to be a West Ham fan.

I've done quite a few now.  The best part is listening to our lot singing and those around you being irritated by the relentness din that comes from them.

I think the most frustrating thing will be not joining in!

Oh and I 'll not applaud if they score. I'll stand up but not clap. Too far.

The worst thing will be not being able to join in the celebrations as Benteke completes his hat-trick.

I was in the Liverpool end last Saturday it was bloody horrible, the day could have been twice as good if I was in the away end,sat there quiet as a mouse the whole 90 minutes and listened to them moaning the whole time

I think I would have took some immense, sadistic pleasure from this.

Was in the home end there when we beat them on the last of the season 2002. 1-3 with goals from Crouch, Vass and Dion. My brother is a Chelsea fan and he was sat beside me.  I did jump up for one of the goals but the people next to us didn't twig as my brother had his head in his hands.
Now I'm living a 10 minute walk from Stamford Bridge but unfortunately won't be there on Sunday.

Just boo Benitez incessantly and clap on 16 minutes and you'll fit right in.

I was in the main stand on Saturday too. Good job it was hospitality. Surrounded by tourists! I had a group hug with the Villa mates I was with.

Good job it was hospitality and a lovely four course meal too!
