Glad we put a stop to that. It sounds like something the Samaritans would sing. Quite apt I s'pose.

If we ever have 'We Will Rock You' as an anthem I will support somebody else.

No need Percy as I would blow up the whole PA system and everybody working on it.

Oh, I don't care what they play on the PA, they've never had a clue. As long as we don't start singing it.

If anything screams small time it's signing a random song with no connection to the club and calling it an 'anthem'.

Yes Liverpool have You'll Never Walk Alone but all the others I know of are lower league clubs.  I'm glad we don't have one.

The Funeral dirge version of 'The bells are ringing' a couple of seasons ago was the worst thing ever.

All the money in the world won't stop Man City being small time.  How many years had it been without a trophy before the oil-billionaires rocked up?

The Tipperary song was particularly naff.   After a bad result eg throwing away a two goal lead to the red filith at home, I wake in the small hours singing it to a glass of water and a clock radio.   It was promoted by the Meaning Evil and it attempted to make the names of the teams we had beaten in 57 rhyme.

The couplet which which has the same effect on me as root canal surgery is

"Goodbye Bristol City, Farewell Middlesbro'
It's a long way to go to Wembley
But we'll get there I know"

The attempted rhyming of "Middlesborough" with "know" should merit the death penalty.

All perfectly reasonable, but it definitely doesn't make them 'lower league'.

Useless pub quiz trivia alert. The reason why the Abba song Super Trouper lyrics mentions Glasgow is that it was the only place name at the time the writers could think of that rhymed with show.

They could have all the money in the known universe but  Citeh will always be the light relief of English football.   They are Citeh.   They are an old auntie who gets pissed at weddings and funerals.   Okay she is an old auntie who has won the euro lottery these days but she will never change.

When You're Smiling should be the Villa anthem.
I agree. When we used to sing it the lyrics had a small change to them.

When you're smiling
When you're smiling
The Holte End smiles with you

When you're laughing
When you're laughing
The sun comes shining through

But when you're crying
You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing
Be happy again

Keep on smiling
Cause when you're smiling
The Holte End smiles with you

When you're smiling
When you're smiling
The Holte End smiles with you

When you're laughing
When you're laughing
That sun comes shining through

But when you're crying
You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing
Be happy again

Keep on smiling
Cause when you're smiling
The Holte End smiles with you

Keep Right ON?

We sang that at the 1957 Cup Final I believe.
