There was a pathetic turnout in Walkabout on Victoria Embankment last night.

5 of us, jumping up and down, swearing at a giant screen in front of half a dozen bemused aussies, most of whom were watching Lazio v Udinese on the other screen.

It was even worse where I watched it. Just me and my lucky Admiral's Pie, which is 3 wins out of 3 this season for the pie.

I knew you'd try and take credit for that, when it was really my half-time mince pie that won it.

Pah, your mince pie is only 1 for 1. All hail the Admiral's Pie!

Maybe we should allow people to post early on the Match Thread. Yesterday there was a couple of early posts which got me paniced as it traditionally meant a Villa defeat. Thinking about it, we've been very tidy and correct not posting on there until the team sheet comes in but the results have been crap. Maybe it's time for a change?

Haha, thanks Pauline. I have made sure i've got one for HT Saturday. If it works again home games are going to be a problem as all things permitting I should be back at most home games now. I wonder if VMF will warm me one up at HT?

Leave it with me.  I'll have a word with Alison Plant.   ;)

I wouldn't read too much into this - as you mentioned there are many many factors that would've contributed to the low figure last night... The Holte was extremely good; probably as good as they've been all season. Which makes no sense to me.

I had an unusual excuse as I posted on the match thread.

Quote
I can't make the game tonight and I'm f***ing annoyed >:( The cause of this catastrophe? A pig. Yes a solitary bloody pig. It's decided that the M1 is a good place for a stroll and has brought Leicester to a standstill.

I should have gone to the bookies after that, it was guaranteed we'd have an all too rare win.

As for the low crowd, most of the usual reasons apply I think.  Just before Christmas, midweek, cold, 3 days after the last home game, uninspiring opposition, poor recent form etc.  I expect it'll pick up again soon enough although results on the pitch are probably the biggest factor.

I'm sure I heard a rendition of "empty seats my lord" shortly after the 19th minute applause.

If that was not done in irony then it's hugely embarrassing.

It's the lucky pie. Reasponsible for 3 Villa wins so far this season. Then again who has ever had an unlucky pie? Well apart from Darren Bent. Allegedly.

We're taking him to every game and shoving him on as a mascot again, 1-0 every time so far.

It was a low attendance however the whole ground were totally supportive and encouraged the team all through the game. The Holte were in good voice for the second game running. Well done to all of us a VP yesterday.

Can't we just create a diversion and get him on to the pitch before every game. Or just let Randy know and I am sure he will oblige...

I've always said that once the crowd gets much above 35k you don't get many more Villa supporters, just people there to see the game.

Spot on.  Sometimes fans get a little upset when we don't sell out every game. Well since I've supported the club (late 70s) we've never had crowds as consistently good as the last 10-15 years. The only way we'll get more fans through the door is if we get a Man City or Chelsea style takeover, then perhaps the glory hunters will come knocking at the door.
