Nathan Baker is James Collins mkIII.

Comfortable on the ball, composed, left footed, good looking lad (if you like that sort of thing)... nope I'm struggling with this one.

He's more Nathan Barley than James Collins.

we are a very pooor side, we have reverted to type, its like watching a MON team
No we are not. We are ar more enterprising however not everything we do is coming off at the moment. In time it will.

I thought we tried to play good progressive football in the first half, and then reverted to pinging long balls from baker to benteke as the confidence waned. Given the previous performances I'm prepared to give the benefit of the doubt to the team on this one. But want to see a Sunderland type performance v QPR and then think we'll need to be more inventive v Stoke

Nathan Baker is James Collins mkIII.

What??? Baker's a cracking young player and if we can hang on to him will be a stalwart Villa defender

I think a problem right now is that we're trying to squeeze Wiemann and to a lesser extent Gabby into roles they're not suited to so the "out" ball to Benteke is too tempting.

I used to think that a DMC was the priority but over all I have been impressed by Westwood and Bannan, so now I'd prioritise a (very) decent winger, not in the traditional sense but someone who can play in Gabby or Weimann's role who is comfortable going past a player.  There should be loads abroad but Nani, Young, Hoillet, Bale and Podolski are examples from the premiership.  A player of this ilk would provide another attacking focal point.

After a while it was just one punt up the field after another. However, I think it's a confidence thing. As the match wore on, players didn't go looking for the pass and making themselves available got fear of having the crowd on their back. It's frustrating because we've seen the players are more than capable of passing the ball.

We need better wide options that Weimann and Gabby.

We need a midfielder who can put his foot on the ball and stride past a couple of players. A skillful strong athletic type. Our current crop are too similar, stopping the ball and looking to pass rather than utilising space.

We could have been two up at half time. We created plenty and didn't take our chances (as usual). We went direct due to nerves and urgency.

Now, now, that won't do at all. That's a measured and sensible response and we can't have any of that. Where's you're contrived hysteria? Where's the unreasonable negativity? Are you sure you're one of us?
