I was in the lower north and it was a bit quiet in there. Maybe it was the weather? It was utterly grim today.

I *was* in it for two hours!

Try standing in it for two hours.

Not before the match you weren't.

The TV cameras are above the Witton Lane Stand so they are bound to pick up more noise from the away fans concentrated just below them.

I thought the atmosphere was good but perhaps more a warm comfortable than hot hysterical.

As usual in L8 the atmosphere was excellent and was spreading around the lower holte, VP sounded pretty good to me as i was actually there !

I actually was. It wasn't pleasant. I thought the Holte sounded noisy at times, I was hoping the Paul Lambert claret and blue army chant would catch on where we were because that one sounded ace. As ever the acoustics of the ground probably have a part to play.

Only saw it on telly but have to say it seemed the complete opposite. Flat is the norm now at VP and has been for some time.
Yesterday there were times when it sounded like it was rocking again, mainly in the second half.

Was there against Norwich and it was like a morgue.

I thought it was better than it has been for some time yesterday - especially in the Upper Holte.  I think the acoustics of the ground do have an effect - for instance I didn't know the Arse fans were chanting 'you don't know what you're doing' at Wenger til I read it on here. As always, when you see the players having a proper go the atmosphere tends to lift and vice versa

Sounded pretty good in the upper holte to be fair. The lads at the back at one stage we're singing claret 'n blue army none stop for about 10 mins. They were giving a real good go.

I sat by the away fans in the north upper, they weren't that loud, there was a muted "you don't know what your doing" at wenger but they were quiet compared to some. You can't hear the holte that well either, it must be acoustics as some have suggested

I am convinced the ship has been steadied. Yesterday was the most settled and assured  we have looked as  a club in two years. Last season (and the season before) there was a sense of constant crisis and dread. Villa Park always seemed nervy, on edge. Yesterday I felt we started to look to the future with confidence.

I was in the Holte and thought it was pretty good yesterday.

A lot of it is down to acoustics. Now I've moved from the Upper Holte to P8 I hardly hear the HE, just the away fans when previously the reverse used to be the case.

Armchair 'fans' knocking the atmosphere.. pisses me off nearly as much as Small Heath Fans.
There is no need for that. Our fans have an opinion even if they can't make it to VP regularly.

Yeah, it was. And - given our league position, our recent home record, the time of day, the weather and the TV presence - I was surprised how 'up' people were.
When we start winning the atmosphere could get very special ...

When it comes to judging atmosphere, I think he has a point. I do think you have to be there.

In my opinion, the atmosphere was second only to the Man Utd match.
