I was only 11 but I remember my dad and some other Villa fans clapping a spectacular overhead kick goal from Arsenal's Paul Davis on the last game of the 82/83 season, but there was no way a stroppy kid like me was applauding a goal against Villa!

It wasn't a spectacular goal but I remember Helsingborgs' equaliser being applauded. Not by me, I was too pissed off. Also I was at the match when Scholes scored the volley. I didn't applaud and didn't feel like doing so. I think I might have mentioned my opinion of his club in the post match thread last weekend.

Oh don't get me wrong I p dislike Man U more than I do Blues as throughout my childhood we never played Blues and as a Black Country lad i'd never even met a Bluenose. United and Liverpool though, can't stand them. Still found myself applauding that Scholes volley though.

Alexander Mostovoi ,Celta Vigo.

His performance for Celta Vigo 1998/1999 is the best individual performance I have seen against us.

I remember thinking "that's a great goal" but seeing those twats cavorting at the other end turned any appreciation of the art of hitting a volley quickly into rage at that despicable club and everyone associated with them. I fully accept this is a fault of mine. I'm too bitter in the heat of the moment. I didn't applaud Rodallega's either and I don't particularly mind Wigan. Apart from when they've just scored against us which was the scenario at that time.

Paul Ince scored a belter against us for West Ham, just after he broke through, I remember applauding that.

That was my feelings of it, genuinely thought we'd beat them that day

Can't remember the lads name but in the Villa Luton game 88/89 Luton took a corner in front of the holte end and the guy lashed it in on the volley from outside the box, incredible goal and among the v signs and expletives there was a smattering of appreciative clapping as the Luton team celebrated in the corner.

Never have, never will. I don't have it in me to be that objective.

If it's a good goal applaud it unless it's the noses or a player you hate!

When Charlton beat us 4-3 a few years back on the last day, to stay up, Danny Mills got the winner.  That wasn't applauded as such but I remember the Holte applauding the Charlton team/fans at the end for staying up.

Matt Jansen's superb long range effort for Crystal Palace against us. We were 3-0 up at the time but it deserved applause whatever the score.

This is the first one I remember applauding too.  I remember Ian Taylor scoring the winner against us for Derby in a pre season friendly at Pride Park that almost got cheered by Villa fans.
