sadly missed. i worked on mere green library, round about 1990 ish,  and birchy used to frequent the bookies that was next door. he would pull up in a black escort RS Turbo and spend the whole afternoon in there.
100% player and someone we could relate to as a local lad plying his trade with his local team. Anyone know if he was villa fan before he signed up for the club?

Mentioned it on here before, but Birchy used to live directly opposite my junior school in the late eighties, so he was probably my favourite player.

He was always more than willing to sign autographs and give out team posters and so on, a really nice bloke.

Absolutely - you need those bloody players in any decent team - hopefully Westwood can step up and fulfil that role for us. That, or buy Mulumbu.
