Worst outweight the best or perhaps I just can't forget the awfulness of
Jim Herriot
Malcolm Allen
Frank McAvennie
Evan Williams

I would say Milner was the best but I hate to think what might have happened if we hadn't had Keane for a spell last season. The Carlton Cole loan was bad (3 goals all season wasn't it?) due to the fact we flogged Crouch to make way for him.

I didn't actually think that Milner was that great for us on loan. Once he actually signed for us he was a far better player.

I thought he was pretty mediocre for a while after he signed for us.
Then he moved in to the centre and the rest is history.

I'd say he was always generally mediocre in his career until he moved to central midfield. Which is why it is a shame he has gone back to being a winger at Citeh.

He was better than mediocre IMHO, so a good signing for us. Agree with you that he is wasted there having seen him play in the centre for Villa, could have been an England regular in that position there now. That said, thought he did a good job the other night

Yeah mediocre was probably too harsh a word. But he didn't ever really pull up any trees at the Barcodes. Was decent the other day although the rest of the team were shite that day which helped him stand out a bit.

Maybe mediocre was a bit harsh for his career before he moved into the centre.
O'Neill wouldn't have coughed up £12 million for mediocrity would he ?

I suppose that depends if you consider Steven Flechter to be mediocre.

Wasn't Milner our player of the season when we first had him on loan?! Admitedly, it was a pretty mediocre season.
