Points versus this time last year
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:13:11 PM »
Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could perhaps help me. I'm writing an article and was just wondering if anyone could tell me the amount of points we had after six games last season?

I've had a look and can't find it anywhere.

Thanks in advance, and apologies for being a cheeky bugger ;)

I'm of the understanding that we were six points better off last season having beaten Blackburn and one other which I'm not sure of. The official site has reports and scores from last season I think.

We were 8th with six points.

Unbeaten with one win and five draws.

Only one win? Haven't checked it but pretty sure we had beaten Wigan 2-0 at home by this time last season.

Should be 'number', not 'amount'. Oops, sorry; wrong thread!

Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the present to last season's points tally in the exact same fixtures no matter when they were played. Just replace Southampton with Norwich and West Ham with Swansea as the pairs were promoted from second place and playoffs respectively.

Not sure I see the value in checking this.  It should be clear to anyone that the results so far aren't good enough but the performances are good enough to suggest we just need to hit a 'tipping point' after which we'll be fine.  The sooner that comes the better.

We had 11 points after 7 games and were unbeaten.
We were also about 30 seconds away from beating QPR away.

I watched that Bannan penalty and Tricky Dicky own goal in Menorca. Seems a lifetime ago.

I'd just got to the top of the steps leading into the stand when Dunne bundled in their equaliser.  I snorted "typical fucking Villa" at the top of my voice and stalked off out the ground with my now long suffering son in tow.

I have this image of your son walking behind you, his head drops as he realises he isnt going to be going back to enjoy the game, he sighs and trudges off behind you listening to you curse the Villa all the way home.

I have this vision because its the way I act as well  :D
