Should we loan any more out, and if so, who?
« on: October 01, 2012, 11:44:08 PM »
Looking at the first team squad, there's about 27 first teamers there, not including the likes of Johnson and Carruthers), is there anyone else that should go to get experience/games/the hell out of VP?

For me:

Hutton - obviously!

Bowery - was a bit on the fence on this, but I just think with our 4 current strikers, he wont get any gametime - I want to see how he does in the Championship.

Stevens - I think he needs some games but I do like him.

Herd/Gardner - We have way too many midfielders so one being loaned out makes sense. Either going will be fine, but I would maybe lean towards GG to go, as I think he could rip up the Championship and would build his confidence up no end.

Would that be the Gardner currently out for six months?

Shit, when did that happen?

I still think maybe Herd going would be good for him, as I think 8 for four positions is fine, if he has an option to bring back if needed.

Johnson
Carruthers
Weimann
Stevens
Graham
Drennan
Burke

Preferably to teams that try to play good football. That'll do for the moment.

Absolutely not on Weimann I'd say.  I think we'll need him.

Agree that we need Weimann at the club.  He might already be out on loan, but I think giving the young keeper Siegrist first team experience somewhere would be beneficial to him and the likes of Carruthers could do with competitive action if they are not going to get near the squad.

Bowery too for me.  If someone in the championship will take him then makes a good stepping stone.

I would hold onto Weimann for now, but Bowery, Hutton, Carruthers and Johnson would benefit from going out on loan.

I also think Albrighton could do with a month long deal in the Championship somewhere to boost his confidence and fitness.

Marc seems to completely split opinions at the moment (come to think of it a few of our players do), I thought he had a good game on sunday and would keep him around.

I think Weimann is close to being a really good player for us, that's why I'd send him out now as I think he could be a starter for someone, make a big impact and come back full of confidence. Then maybe bring him back and send Bowery out.

I'd agree with that, if our current strike force were consistently performing in the league, which they're not.  We've no idea for example, if Benteke is going to settle, and two goals for Gabby doesn't guarantee that he's back to form.

I think Herd is a key player in the squad.  He's the only player we have to naturally play the deep lying midfielder role if KEA is out.

EDIT:  Actually, Westwood might figure in there, but he's still far too much an unknown quantity to risk sending Herd out on loan

I don't think herd is a key player for the squad on the grounds that I don't rate him.
