Tonight Was the Night Aston Villa Stopped Being Dull!
« on: September 25, 2012, 11:42:54 PM »
Thought this deserved a topic of its own, but after conceding 4 on Saturday and scoring 4 tonight, and with a total of 11 goals being scored in the last two games, the ghost of a certain Scottish manager has been officially laid to rest.

Remember this line from the Guardian?

"A pattern is emerging, and it is one where entertaining football is entirely absent"

Eleven goals in two games. Can't argue with that.

As some of us pointed out on Saturday when others were reaching for the razor blades, this season is going to see a lot of ups and downs, but it's going to be entertaining along the way.

Swansea and tonight don't make us a top 6 side, same as the Everton and Saints results don't make us a bottom 3 side. We're a work in progress but unless they are blind surely people can see a massive change in us already and we're only 7 games in under Lambert.

Be patient and enjoy the ride.

Quite right.

We're going to have some really, really up and down results this season. Losing 4-1 at Southampton (four goals shipped in 40 minutes), then three days later winning 4-2 at Man City is exactly the sort of thing I mean.

On the down side, that means a lot of duff days when we're going to struggle, like last Saturday. One the up side, we're trying to change things, we're behind what the manager wants to do, and we're at least not going to be bored shitless like we were last season.

Interesting times.

I think it's going to be more of a nemesis than a corkscrew.

By any chance, is it a righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent? Personified in this case by an 'orrible cahnt... me.

Agree and I think we are going to be one of those really unpredictable teams this season.  I do hope we tighten up a little at the back over the campaign though as the first goal tonight was very slack.

I said in the post match  Southampton thread that we'd be getting tonked one week and tonking another team the next If we could just serve out another tonking to the Baggies before were tonked again then I would be very grateful ;)
