Christian Benteke has joined Liverpool and now Palace.

Enough reports on him now to start the thread, surely.

Quote
Sky Sports sources understand striker Christian Benteke is on his way to Birmingham to discuss personal terms and have a medical at Aston Villa.

Genk have been asking for double Villa's 5.5m valuation, which frustrated the Belgium international.

He did not feature in the club's Europa League victory against Lucerne on Thursday night.

The West Midlands outfit have now seemingly agreed some common ground for the 21-year-old, thought to be in the region of 6.5million.

Benteke, who has been compared to a young Didier Drogba, is a prolific forward and scored 18 goals for Genk in 33 appearances last season.

He also opened his account for Belgium in their impressive 4-2 win over Holland earlier this month.

Genuinely excited by this one!

He's a big bastard, and Lambert likes to have one of those around. Hope he finds his feet quickly, and even more quickly finds the net and Darren Bent in good positions.

Scoring for Belgium against Holland is a good sign, rather take that then him scoing bundles in the Belgium league.

Should give us a bit of muscle upfront and hope he dosen't take too long to get to grips with the prem, as with all our signings really.

Still not sure who's going to create chances for him and Bent?

There are plenty of beasts around, but if you don't have the first touch and footballing brain to go with it it's useless. From what I've seen of him however, I think Benteke has all the attributes to be a success.

How do you pronounce it? I've been saying 'bent-ay-kay', though it might be 'bent-ee-kay' or 'bent-a-kay'.

What a pain in the balls though on the match thread when he scores. In all of the excitement, lots of people will be typing Bent and not getting the rest out as we spill our pints over the keyboards. Then there will be three pages of Barry penaltyesque clarification as to who actually scored.

I think I could live with that situation!

No idea who he is. This brings me memories of two players we spent a lot of money on whilst not knowing much about them and they turned out completely different. I really liked and rated JPA, but Balaban was shockingly bad.

Here's hoping we have signed a very good player to partner Bent!
