Parking at Villa Park (disabled) Help Please
« on: August 10, 2012, 10:21:33 PM »
Hi
Sorry of this is posted in the wrong area. We are off to Villa Park on Sunday for the Charity shield and taking my son who has a cardiac problem. He does not like to use his wheelchair so we were hoping to not use it but he cant walk more than 5-10 minutes. We have a blue badge but it looks as though they can't be used in the residents parking zone (they can at Manchester City) We are on the opposite side of the ground from usual as we are in the Trinity Road Stand so not really sure where is best to park. Any advice would be great please.
Thaks in advance
Anna

The Disabled Liason Officer (I think that's her title) is Sheila Maybury and she's very helpful although not sure whether she'd be at the club on a Saturday.

I sit in the Lower Trinity and have a parking space in the Holte End car park which an easy 10 minute walk away.

Hope you get something sorted - and enjoy the match.

Thanks - didnt phone the club as didn't want to have to sit in the disabled area and then left it a bit late - assume there will no-one there on a Saturday. Will try the Manor Rd car park and hope we can do a few piggy backs between us!

If you get there VERY early there are some sides of the roads by the coach park that aren't resident parking. Also the pay & display by Aston Station often has spaces.

Some cars with blue badges park on the Aston Park side of Trinity Road between the statue and Nelson Road. Get there about 2 hours before kick off and you should be ok.

The other thing to do would be to use the wheelchair from the car to the ground and ask if you can leave it near the turnstile for the return. Not ideal-but solves the problem and will at least get you through the crowd safely.

Thanks everyone - had thought about leaving wheelchair but not sure if they'd be happy as know what football grounds are like about "safety" I think we will get there early and park on a road and hope for the best.
