Villa on Facebook - Analysing Support Trends
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:40:31 AM »
Forgive the geeky sounding title!

I just had a quick look at Villa's Facebook page and have noticed that the city where we have most "likes" is no longer Birmingham...but Cairo!  Just wondering if anyone might have any theories as to why we are so popular in Egypt?

That's a nice thought!

I'm just wondering if the club has been targeting that area and promoting the club out there?  I know they've started showing AVTV programmes on various satellite platforms and I just wonder if this might be a result of doing that?

Apparently when they showed THAT Bolton game the commentator said "Well that's the straw that broke the camels back."
Which immediately endeared us to our massive Egyptian following.

Apparently even after the Bolton game a lot of Egyptian fans were in De Nile.

Isn't that stat about people talking most about the page at the moment (rather than actual likes). I guess a lot of people are looking at El Ahmadi story and I think (might be wrong) that Morroco is twitchy about social media so maybe people fake their accounts to be set up in Egypt. Or something like that.......
