Other clubs' transfers
« on: June 06, 2012, 01:50:59 PM »
I think we had one of these threads a while back, but can't find it. Might be worth keeping a place for discussion of moves by other clubs.

Here's a rumour that will surprise nobody.

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/9744735.O_Neill_lining_up_McGeady_as_Hoilett_heads_to_Germany/

He must really, really rate McGeady. Either that or he's still using the same three year old version of Football Manager to do his scouting.

Yes I've never seen what people like about McGeady, he just looks distinctly average and overweight to me.

Haven't Newcastle already brought a player in? Seem to remember them being very quick out the blocks.

Edit: Newcastle sign 22-year-old French attacking midfielder Romain Amalfitano on a free transfer from Stade de Reims.

I think McGeady is decent, but was overpriced when MON supposedly was after him, and probably still is now. All those step-overs that appear in highlights reels tend to inflate his value somewhat.

I think I'd want him to kick it rather than step over it!

Did'nt know Chelsea had signed Marin.

There's plenty of keepers released this year - guess we're likely to pick one up on a free.

Also interesting to note Joe Mattock on that released list (WBA) - we were interested when he was at Leicester, but had completely dropped off radar. Given Shorey was keeping him out of the team at the Baggies, doubt he'll end up here!

Anybody know anything about that Shinji Kagawa that Man United have signed? Apparently he's a world beater but I literally have no idea who he is.

I've seen more of McGeady playing for Ireland than I did for Celtic and was never keen.

My WBA colleague reckons he is a bit of a thug who has had his problems off the pitch. An aspiring Joey Barton without the talent.

Another far eastern player to sell a million shirts to the tourists - anyone remember Dong? I think he was loaned out almost straight away to Anderlecht or somewhere and came back to make a single appearance for them in an early CC game

Sold loads of shirts in China though

To be fair to Man Utd they've probably had quite a few players where that's happened over the years from various countries.
