Selling Up
« on: April 25, 2012, 05:13:34 AM »
OK, someone will need to correct me on the maths here, but I think RL bought the club for about 65mill?

He's maybe invested a further 100mill into it?

He's clearly not going to invest any more into it and looks found wanting to develop us any further. Nice pub. Nice training ground. Shite squad. Shite manager. Shite league prospects.

Can he turn a profit by selling it on?

Is there a decent business strategy out there to convert us into a club as good as Tottenham have become in the same time we've declined?

Answers on a postcard to an Ex-General in Massachusetts or Alabama somewhere.

He won't sell if we go down, too much of a loss.  He might sell should we stay up but would do well to get his money back.

I'd imagine Tottenhams revenue streams to be much higher than ours so off the field we'd need success to allow commercial revenue and gate reciepts to grow - success will mean extra investment and suddenly we're back to square one.

Tottenhams strategy seems to have been hire an astute Manager and get a decent scouting network together, add in the extra invetment and the London factor and Bobs your uncle - you finish erm 5th or 6th.

Our strategy appears to be a general cost cut, reduce players wage bill, bosmans, promote youth players, go about managerial recruitment in a lazy hap hazard way and then hope to stay up.

Tottenhams and our strategies are similar on one respect though - the mindset comes from the top.

His total investment is probably closer to 250 million.

If he sold up now with Villa as a PL club he'd prob just get his money back, as a Championship club he's got no chance.

If we go down we need to follow the Newcastle model. His best investment would be getting a couple of 'football men' in behind the scenes. Clearly PF is out of his depth.

I don't think he'd get back what he paid for it.

Course he wont now ,he has fucked up hugely.Staying up would paper over the cracks of the epic fuck up he has made of things. We go down I don't fancy us coming back up straight away.Championship is a tough league and we have little experiance left in the squad .Bent and Gabby are really the only sellable assets left.

Yeah but the problem is, "his fuck ups" are being done to our football club. We all know it will be there after he has gone, but in what state due to his miss- management
