A Brummie kid, the brother of a lad we hope will become a huge star for us, and a Villa Academy graduate who only moved on to try and make a career for himself when his first team opportunities here became so limited.
Good luck to the lad.

This.

The booing  he suffered during the game was well out or order.

Why? He claimed to be a lifelong Villa fan while at our club, then signs for Small Heath admits to being a complete liar.
He deserves all the stick he gets.

I don't know.  I'm sure Craig has a lot of time for Villa despite being a Blues supporter so he was in a difficult situation when asked such questions.  I'd love to see him back at Villa - it would be great for GG too.

I always liked Craig Gardner, if for no other reason than his photo alone suggests he could have been the second Romeo Benetti.

10 goals last season (I think) suggests we did not get the best out of him. Small Heath sold him for double the amount they paid us - they certainly got the better of the deal.

I don't think he really wanted to leave and I couldn't give a monkeys about what he said a bout being a bluenose.

I'd have him back, especially at an MON reject price.

He looks to have improved but not to the extent that he's any better than what we have.

Agree with this also - if he could have found a regular place in the Villa midfield, he'd probably still be here, but unfortunately he just wasn't quite good enough for where the team were at the time....looking at the players we have now though, and I think he could do a job for us.

Saw this from the north stand lower.  Fair play to him.
Personally I have no real problem with Craig Gardner apart from the fact he said he was a villa fan then as soon as he went to blues, admitted he had been a blue nose all his life.  There would have been no issues had he always said he was a blues fan from day 1.

A mate tells me that the Gardners are big Blues fans, but have been massively impressed with the way Villa have been with their boys.
I'd have him back.
Don't think he'd lead us to the Champions League but he's a hard working midfielder with a great shot. A bit better than what we have at present and will probably get better. like Barry?

Same for me.

I didn't boo him.

Gary's article in the Sunderland programme is interesting. He talks a lot about the family and how they all went to Blues one week and Villa the next.

If this is the standard of player we are after this summer then we are in real trouble over the next couple of years.  Very ordinary.  Works hard and I respect him for wearing the Support Stan T shirt on Saturday, but I wouldn't want him back if it's at the expense of being able to spend the money for him elsewhere.

Very diplomatic....but also rather unlikely I think.

Not unusual in the past though, I know plenty of people who used to do just that.
