Pretty accurate summation of the weekend's events, but minor pedant alert - Herd scored for us at 'Pool not Gardner

As ever, a fair and balanced view of the two games.

I like the gout-ridden tortoise analogy.

"I’d like to think that with safety now virtually assured Alex McLeish might send a team out to enjoy themselves and, just maybe, entertain the crowd. Or not."
I agree to a certain degree, but, again, he's in a no win situation.
Houlier had this last season, Tried to change the way we'd played for the previous 5 seasons and got lambasted because we wasn't winning.
No, it hasn't been pretty, in fact at times it's been pretty awful, but, at times we show we can do it, we've just got to be more consistant.
Yes, the Stoke game wasn't a spectacle, did anyone honestly expect it to be? But for me the pleasing part was that we tried to keep the ball down, it didn't always work, but when it did it looked good.

I personally don't think our safety is virtually assured. It'll only take a couple of teams to pick up three points today and Wednesday and we'll be looking over our shoulders again. I think it'll be that way until it's mathmatically done and dusted.

As for Stoke, maybe teams should do exactly the same as what Stoke do when they're playing against them, wipe the ball at every opportunity. It's sinking down to their level maybe but if the ref in question are going to let one team away with it, then why not?

I said similar in the post match thread, but we didn't seem to get any real penentration for all the passing.

"Stroke supporters"?  Typo or intentionally offensive?

You're quite right John,
I suppose we only had 2 killer passes in the game, I include the pass from Ireland to Weimann for the goal, but on several occassions we went for 'The' pass but, unfortunately it didn't work. Eventually, I hope, these passes will come off.
I think we're slowly moving in the right direction.

Agree, we're not safe by any means - it'll go to the Norwich away game where we'll probably need a point (just like the 94-95 season)
