The last three performances have been brilliant, the results have been good and there’s plenty of confidence now going into the games coming up.

mmmmmm not sure my take on things quite reflects this statement. I'm fairly certain I wasn't lauding our performance or using very many positive adjectives to describe our performance at Wigan or the 2nd half at Blackburn.

Funny how we all see things differently

What are the last three matches? Wigan, Blackburn, Fulham? Five points out of those matches isn't really my definition of "good", either, Alex.

To be fair, had Dunne claimed we could push on for the top six/CL spots he'd have been rightly ridiculed. It's hardly exciting but at least it's a realistic goal. I'd snap someone's arm off for a top ten finish this season.

Did he say the defence has looked better since he hasn't played.

I'm not sure that its Sunderland that Dunne is using as a rallying call but Martin O'Neill. If we can focus on a target then it will unify the players, management, and the fans. If we make that focus beating O'Neill then I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. And we will beat them on the 21st.

I know he's getting some stick much of it deserved. But it is good to have realistic target- even if that is just to finish higher than Sunderland. I would hate to jinx things but I'm really hoping that weimann's goal against fulham will be seen as turning point when we look back on this season. Very little chance of mcleish getting the bullet now unless we completely implode. Let's just hope we can build on the promising signs.

Actually, fuck it, that sounds far too optimistic for a villa fan- I must have been too long in oz!

Beating Sunderland would be a big help in 'catching them up' but you can bet your life that Pubehead will have them revved up for our clash, as if it's a World cup final.

agreed, but if McAgent wants anyto achieve a chance of getting the fans onside it is winning this match.

Wow... let's catch... Sunderland.

Sorry, I'm in a piss taking mood today.

How about sending Dunne to Sunderland...he can than achieve his ambition for his club.

Does anyone really believe the players actually say this stuff? Every week someone seemingly gets rolled out to impart some vital company message. 'we can turn it around', 'team spirit is wonderful', 'we're all backing Emile to come good'.

Sod the quality of the football, we must have the most articulate squad in the league.

What's Dunne doing talking to the Mail in the first place? Hasn't he heard of Twitter?

I can just see Mcleish's post match comments when they beat us.

"Sunderland have a completely different agenda to us..."
