Where would Capello have ranked in that list?

Amazing............ although it mostly shows how well managers in England are paid compared to those on the continent.

The Villa job (according to that list) is the 10th best paid in English football - around what you might expect, which begs the question........ surely that  make it easier to attract a top, top European coach rather than Average Alex from accross the road?

EDIT- Oh no, I forgot - you need premiership experience to manage Villa.

This is a shock, but bear in mind that Eck knows he will never ever receive a wins bonus nor a fat fee for achieving, say, a cup win or an unexpectedly high final league position and the poor fella has a wife and mortgage to support. Given his 2/3 track record, Faulkner shoulda offered him a bonus for avoiding relegation, though.

The truly scary thing on that list is how many players at each club earn more.

How do we know he hasn't?

I'm betting that avoiding relegation will be seen as a success by the fools in charge.

Might explain the ultra negative style of football.

Looking at that list, I can see why the Club didnt go for David Moyes - Although it would have been money better spent IMO

How the hell is wee Jimmy Krankie on the same as Fergie? Absolute madness.

I spotted that, too.  Incredible.  So incredible that I just can't see it being true - if it is then I reckon Liverpool's US owners are as naive and out of touch as our own.

Just looking at the top whack the Premier League managers are on is enlightening.  Surely we could get a quality continental coach on board for relative buttons?

The list shows four things, mainly:

1) How far ahead Barca and Real are financially, not just of the rest of Spain (Qatari-owned Malaga are the only other Spanish club on the list), but of everyone else as well.

2) The Premier League are continuing their classic problem (you could call it MON Syndrome) of over-paying a lot of very average dross by clubs who can't really afford it.

3) Brazil remain so far ahead of the rest of South America financially. Not even the Boca or Estudiantes coaches get on that list, yet there are plenty of Brazilian clubs there (no River either, obviously).

4) Our board have really dropped a massive one with this appointment.

Houllier was on closer to £4 million apparently.   @.@

So yes, McLeish was the 'cheaper' option when compared to the previous salary.

Still scandalous, mind.
