Isn't he one of those players who has agreed to take a 75% pay cut for them?

He will have being as he's considered one of their 'stars'.

I liked him and was disappointed when he was sold on, at the time.

Richard, please stop talking out of your anus and including me in the process.
I don't recall anywhere saying we are signing Messi, in fact I dont recall mentioning signing anybody in relation to Davis. What I did say was that I'd rather play the youngsters we have than resign Davis.

I dont agree Davis was a good player for us.
I think a few admittedly decent goals one season hid the fact that he is out of his depth in the Premier League.

If I could pick between Gardner and Davis as a starting midfielder for the rest of the season, I'd pick Gardner in a heartbeat.

I don't agree with Maz on Davis' history. I thought he was good for us, I liked him when he was here.. but he's damn right about us having youngsters who can eclipse his ability and we should be playing them.

Davis always looked promising but as a centre mid left us completely over ran in there. Mon realised this pretty quickly.

Quite agree Mazrim.  Never did anything to convince me he was PL standard, and I'm not sure how several years in a mediocre two horse race would have changed that.   I'm not yet convinced about Bannan, Albrighton or Gardner yet but I've seen more from all them than Davis ever showed.

I agree with you Maz that Davis simply isn't good enough, but you're out of your tree if you think we'll get Messi.

Not sure if that was the reason for his dropping frankly. When MON was appointed a northern Ireland guy i know who socialised with the N.I. players predicted Davis and Hughes would be amongst the first out the door. They despised him and it was mutual by all accounts so whether Davis was good enough or not probably didn't come into the decision.

Regardless, Matt is right. We were overrun in midfield when Davis was playing there.
A luxury that isnt really much of a luxury. Like Tesco Value bog roll.

He's got a good first touch and plays a simple pass. He knows the league and area so you'd imagine he'd settle quickly.

If he's learnt some positional discipline in his time up north he'd be an asset. We've a fair few players in midfield that can keep the ball down, retain possession and play at a slower tempo (Ireland, N'Zogbia, Bannan, Petrov, Gardner) - Davis would add to that and hopefully it'd aid the change in style a little more.

Steve Davis is not a nailed on first team starter. So we should stay with Gardner - Bannan - Herd who are as good if not better than Davis .......

Bearing in mind it didn't take much to stand out in that shower of shit DOL was serving up at the time either.
