Doesn't fill you up with much confidence for next season.

As long as the players coming in are on 2 year contracts max so that if it is decided not to renew AM's contract the new manager is not left with players he doesn't want.

Beye hasnt been mentioned but he will be one off the bill, how many millions has he cost in transer and wages?
I reckon Brad will move on for first team footy together with Carlos and Heskey, all out of contract, so who else? Stan, Jean 11 Ireland

I think there are only a handful of players who I'd be sad to leave Villa. I'm glad Bent and Gabby won't be moving on, but I'm hard pushed to think of others who aren't a waste of space.

We have few heroes these days. I'd be sad if Petrov left.

I would too, as it happens. I meant to mention him too.

Edit: Beye has already left, sadly.

This really does make depressing reading, but at least he's showing some honesty.  Pretty poor of Lerner and Faulkner to leave him out to dry to deliver the black and white "dumbing down" message we have been after for a while.  Just how it has come to this so quickly beggars belief, do they not realise that this is the route to the championship!

Petrov can still do a job, though it depends what kind of money he's on.  I'm sure our excellent scouting network could find a cheaper alternative abroad.

I don't mind the usual suspects leaving I just hope we sign better replacements for them I'm glad we will keep Gabby and Bent at Villa.

I don't think it'll be that cut and dry regarding Bent. If he wants and pushes for a move, or we get a decent enough offer then he'll be gone. Gabby is Villa through and through so he'll definitely stay.

As for the rest of the bigger earners, there's no one I wouldn't sell. I don't think any of them have done enough. Piss poor management or not, they haven't done enough, probably bar Petrov, but Stan is coming up to 34 so I'd still be looking to sell.

I'd also cut my losses with N'Zogbia.

Of course all this is dependant on McLeish (who sadly will be our manager next season) spending wisely, and then getting the best out of his side and trying to play more ambitious football.

I son't really want rid of Ireland or Petrov at this stage.  Ireland has again been unlucky imho, being dropped without doing a lot wrong while in the form of his short time with us.  I think Petrov still offers something to the midfield, a bit of composure that most of our other players lack.  I wouldn't be sad to see the rest of those on the OP list go though.

Maybe you could find his equal on paper, but we need somebody in the squad who seems to care about the club and has served it well through good and bad times. I always think it's important to have the right balance between change and continuity.

Makes sense to move 6 or so players out

Just don`t want AM bringing new ones in (to stamp his personality on them)

Just think of the quality of players that will be on frees. Inspiring isn't it?  If you want the best you have to.pay.

If AMC is still here , we are in serious trouble next season.
