Just How Important will Robbie Keanes Contribution turn out to be?

Anybody got any opinions on this?
I just have a feeling that his goals against Wolves, his performance and the match result could turn out to be our saving grace against relegation. In the grand scheme of things i cannot think of anybody else in the villa squad that could produce that sort of magic in a game.
His passion to play good football, his attitude and awareness on the pitch will be missed.
Why oh why didn't we sign him all those years ago Doug? Still can't believe he played for Cov.

I agree with you waynejames. I think those 2 goals to give us 3 points at the Moulinex will prove vital - all other things being equal we'd now be on 26 points and Wolves on 25 and we'd be well in amongst the deadmen. You could see what a class act he is in those few games for us, and if only we'd have found that extra £500,000 all those years ago things could have been very different. To be fair I heard it was John Gregory rather than Doug who didn't think he was worth the extra dosh but I may well be wrong on that.

In the grand scheme of things we didn't win enough with Keano here. That's not his fault, in all honesty we'd have had less points and goals if not for him, because largely it's been piss poor of late (actually, all season in truth).

But yes it may well come down to 1-2 points that keeps us up and that would indeed be in no small part to winning against Wolves when we actually looked like we could easily lose it.

Hope he comes back, but finances won't allow.

I reckon we would finish mid table upwards with his positive attitude and attacking football especially now Bent is out

ALEX McLeish has urged the angry claret and blue boo-boys to put their grievances with him aside and support their club this weekend.

Villa’s boss was the target of a series of anti-McLeish chants in the first show of public dissent from the away fans at Wigan last Saturday.

McLeish has also dismissed accusations of boring football, claiming: “I don’t say to players ‘Go and play negatively, go and pass the ball back’.’’

His comments come ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Blackburn with Villa hoping to ease their own relegation fears by beating Steve Kean’s strugglers.

McLeish admits it has been a tough week for Villa with fans venting their frustrations and the club posting record £54 million losses for 2010-11.

“At the moment it is a bit gloomy with the figures coming in and the fans showing a bit of dissent,” he said.

“A few never really fancied me coming in in the first place.

Because Doug was a penny pinching, tight fisted miser, who tried to beat Cov down an extra few grand.
If he'd have stumped up that bit extra he'd have got his money back in shed loads.

Had some decent moments, overall had very little effect on the side in terms of our standing, if we had to buy him and pay his wages each and every week, friggin madness, a few years ago maybe.

Fact is we need a new manager a new plan and a good few additions to the squad.
