Finding Villans
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:13:04 PM »
Mods,

I am keen to trace a mate who I used to go to the Villa with in the 60's and early 70's- is there a facility on here like a Villa Fans Reunited?

Any guidance would be appreciated

You could just put his name on here, on VillaTalk and maybe ask the club programme too. Bound to find him eventually.

I take it you've just remembered he owes you a fiver?

I take it you've done the obvious of searching Facebook and Friends Reunited? Of course if his name is Dave Smith it may be a bit harder.

Bloody Hell, Dave Smith? Haven't seen him for years. I will go on the old MyTwitBook and invite him out for a drink, to reminisce about old times. Then, when his guard's down... BANG! "Dave, you remember that fiver you owe me?"

He owes me £7.50 and a new pump for my air-mattress. Do you know if he's still driving the forklift?

Yes he is. I saw him driving it down my street the other day with a cardboard box on it. There was nothing in the cardboard box except for the fiver he owes me. The piss taking bastard.

No sign of my mattress pump, I suppose? He's got a cheek! I know he had all that trouble with the identity theft (apparently it turned out he had a licence for the goat) but that doesn't give him the right to taunt his creditors like that. I should clamp him as he goes past next time.

Anyone want a mattress pump, dead cheap? Slight goat wear.

Dave Smith (nee Cooper)

Whilst wary of joining you in this abstract and surreal world I can confirm that the old mate in question is Neil Thomas aged about 52, who lived in Marston Green and whose late and great father was named Ralph. I suspect that he may have owned a mattress pump at some part of his life, however I can neither confirm or deny that he has or ever had an acquaintance called Dave Smith, who sounds a thoroughly untrustworthy and dodgy character.

Neil  never borrowed money off me, however if he had done the compound interest I could have levied since the last time I saw him circa 1972 would amount to a sum not to be sniffed at.

Thank you to all of you, I am sure that I am not alone in losing contact with fellow Villans, we are after all one big happy, if rather dysfunctional, family.

Maybe the mods/admins could move this to the main board where it will get more attention?

I take it that Neil Thomas is in no way related to Terry 'What an absolute shower' Thomas or Terry 'Tight Lines' Thomas?

Neither of whom would ever have need for a mattress pump but would borrow money off you at every given opportunity.
