Trouble down at Bristol?
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:18:42 PM »
Did anybody else see or hear anything about this?

A mate who runs one of the coaches told me on Saturday that they’d held his coach and a few others up at 15:00 because the police didn’t want any more Villa fans hitting the town centre.

The police had said there’d been a load of aggro with Bristol City in the city centre.

I was speaking to a colleague from the Bristol area today and he brought this up, as he'd heard on the local news about the trouble, with apparently two coach loads being sent back after they’d found bats and other weaponry on board.

Apparently we were all filmed going into the ground and further arrests are expected.

Anybody else here or see anything? I thought this stuff, bar a SHA game, was dead.

There did seem to be a fair few of our dickhead supporter element their on Saturday.  However their ability act like a bunch of bellends was more than offset by the older blokes who managed to get a proper version of Holtenders in the Sky going.  Hats off.

We only had an allocation of 1500 didn't we? Hardly an enormous away following for a large city like Bristol. Weren't Bristol City also getting beat at Crawley at 3pm?

I noticed a few left of flares or the smoke thingys (ala Prague) as the teams came out.

Bristol City away at a tiny ground, with top flight opposition coming down to a place only an hour away with all afternoon drinking on the cards = trouble I guess.

I didn't see any trouble although the Bristol fans seemed up for a fight, lots of the stone island and Burbery dap crew roaming. Despite wearing no colours, me and my mate heard quite a few comments to entice us including some 60 year old woman shouting in our faces "come on the gas". All the "usual" away pubs were shut for "home supporters only".

He was one but we had a guy older than him near us who started us singing it, verses and everything.  I don't know the words but was mumbling along.

I heard about the buses getting held whilst I was in the queue at the chippy.

As for inside the ground; I wouldn't be surprised if someone from WMP has a quiet word with the bloke who kept climbing up on one of the fences and punching his fist in the air (not exactly a youngster either).

As I mentioned in another thread, there was a bit of trouble in one of the smaller sections of the away area. Some of the younger (and clearly pissed) blokes wanted to have a go at the stewards but fair play to the couple of older guys who managed to calm them down.

Went walking down the Witton Lane one dark and dusky day,
I spied a poor City fan a-running far away.
I said to that poor City fan "It's time for you to die".
He said "Yes I know sir - Holte Enders in the sky".

He ran down the terraces and fell towards the gate,
Little did he know that death was sure to be his fate,
He had one more short hour to live and then he'd hear the cry
That ev'ry City fan does fear - Holte Enders in the sky.

Their fists were just like granite and their pockets lined with lead,
And if they catch a City fan he's sure to wind up dead.
Cuz Villa fans rule Birmingham and City fans know why,
Cuz they have seen the glory of...
Holte Enders in the sky.

Yippee-eye-ayyyy, yippee-eye-oooohhhh

 Holte Enders in the sky.
