I know, I know.

Anyway, I seem to remember you being quite competitive in your day, especially when there was a set of stairs in close proximity.

My mate works for a professional sports team and is by all accounts a top bloke.  Completely grounded in every way.  He thinks the people that turn up to watch him and his team play are absolutely nuts.  They - the players - despise the fans.  They actually scare them.

With my psychiatrist's hat on, I'd guess it is because they're mostly normal human beings and feel that just because they can kick a ball well does not mean that they should be idolised/demonised in the manner that they are.
They, players, need to remember where their money comes from. All income for football clubs and players is funded directly or indirectly by ordinairy fans and other people who do so without knowing that is what they are doing.

I have no doubt the players despise fans but you know what I can't kick a ball properly and therefore I pay my money to watch some  arsehole do it and I reserve the right to be critical when they don't do it properly.

Quality feature, wouldn't mind seeing a Villa version. There's far too much distance between the players and the fans these days, seems like Man City are trying to bridge that gap with some of their web features, which is a nice touch.

Remember they got James Milner, Stuart Taylor (if he still there) and Gareth Barry from us and we have Stephen Ireland, Richard Dunne, Shay Given from them plus internationals duties.

It is part of their social circuit.
