Enda Stevens - what impact do you think he will make?
« on: December 31, 2011, 12:41:00 PM »
When do you think he will feature in the first team?
How good is he?
What impact do you think he will make? - what should we expect from him?

I know nothing about him but McMinge has shown in the past that he can spot players from lower divisions / other leagues and I'm intrigued to see whether this kid can make a dsifference.

I imagine he'll be cover for now. Maybe get a run in the side if we're safe and boring in mid table towards the end of the season. Either that or we might loan him out in January. I'd consider starting him in Bristol.

Probably be thrown in at the deep end, have a mare & not play again. Then after six months be loaned back to the club we bought him from.

He's looked very accomplished whenever I've seen him play. The Irish league has improved a lot but is still quite a poor standard.

At least with Enda, there's not much of a risk. It's a small fee, probably low wages so if it doesn't work out we won't lose out too much. Look at Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, and Séamus Coleman as examples of players who went straight from the Irish League to the Premiership. Hopefully we've unearthed a real star.

Very constructive contribution.

I'd imagine he's going to need a few weeks to get up to speed and might get run out later in the season.

I'm old enough to remember when we last took a punt on an Irish left back, he didn't play much (the team that season did quite well) but he was always reliable.

Quiz question for the youngsters on here - what was his name?

Unless Warnock is injured then I don't think you'll see him until next season at the earliest.

He has looked well off the pace whenever he's played in their Europa League games in recent weeks. The whole team has to do some extent but I think he's noticeably struggled.
He's not even been a regular starter in those, possibly because of his imminent move. Have to say I'm surprised we signed him.

He played against Juventus didn't he when we were defending our European Cup win? I wasn't born at the time and can't remember his name... I have the right one don't I?

I wold imagine it will be quite a while before he sees some first team action, next season probably.
The Premier League is a massive step up from the League Of Ireland.

Tend to think it'll be a few weeks to get up to Prem fitness and speed then a couple of games towards end of season when we're safe.

Eamon 'chick' Deacy. Now runs a fruit and veg shop here in Galway. Probably the reason I'm still a villa fan. He's mates with my neighbour growing up, and in my formative football watching years gave me a load of claret and blue mags to read when he found out I was interested in the villa. Top man.

I'd have a concern over his form since his sister died. Can't really blame him to be honest, that would be hard on anyone. Hopefully he comes good.
