Manchester United is the most relevant link in this story - the subject of the alleged racism is a current Manchester United player.

Precisely, his link to Man Utd is what is relevant in the context of the situation.

I have a nagging doubt, It is Patrice Evra and I would also say that you can call me anything you want for 80 grand a week

Yes, but if someone is allowed to get away with saying it to an 80 grand a week footballer then it gives license to someone saying it to people who live on 80 pound a week.

Exactly Andy.   The law is the law.   Barry Bannan broke the law and was heavily and rightly punished.   He also appears to be contrite.   Suarez broke the law and commited an offence which is just as corrosive to the well being and the safety of society as drink driving is and is splashed across the newspapers revelling in his status as a martyr and grinning from ear to ear.   Aston Villa FC read the riot act to Bannan and he appeared in anti drink drive publicity.   Liverpool FC printed Suarez tee shirts.

now come on lads, if it was one of their players racially abused i'm sure they'd have had a go at him for kicking up a fuss.

 Erm......

Fantastic find Greg.

I really haven't disliked liverpool for quite some time, but this whole sorry episode has reignited my hatred for the sanctimonious ******.

Hansen referred to black players as 'coloureds' on MOTD. Oh well, I suppose that counts as progress for Liverpool. They've caught up with the seventies now, only a few decades to go.
