^^^ I'd have Marlon alongside Heskey.

Sutton hardly played, and I can remember him scoring at least once.

Mellberg wasnt up to much by the time Lerner/MON came in. Thought he wasnt all that great generally. reminds me of Collins actually.

Bouma and Laursen were big losses through injury. We spent about 13m on Shorey and Warnock who were both pants replacing him. Still reckon Shorey is better than Warnock but none come close to how solid Bouma was in his last season for us.

Think Dunne is a better defender than laursen. For all his goals Laursen spent a lot of time on his arse in our own penalty box. Still though he was a leader, something which Dunne hasnt been for a good while.

Given over Friedel for me too.

                            Guzan

Beye            Collins     Knight         Warnock

Agathe        Hogg       Ireland       Routledge

                Sutton             Heskey
A little tough on Hogg, TBH.
Sidwell might be a better option:he was truly gash for us.

I remember that lovely pass Osbourne floated onto Sutton's head at Everton. He (Osbourne) looked like he could play then, too

It wouldn't be very good as Gabby on his own will struggle!

Is there any reason this has descended into naming all the poorest players or were we just concerned the thread bordered a little too closely to happy thoughts?

For me, the best team when everyone was fit & firing and at peak etc would be

Given
Cuellar Dunne Laursen Bouma
Downing Milner Barry Young
Carew Agbonlahor

Subs: Friedel, Bent, NRC, Petrov, Albrighton, Mellberg, Clark

Solid, skilful exciting
