In the case of Barry, Young and Milner, they had all given us good service. Even delaying their exits.

Spot on. Milner is as big a wanker as Downing is. He was off as soon as Man City came calling yet Milner gets applauded when he returns. The only ex player out of that lot who should be warmly welcomed is Barry. Yet he's despised for some reason.

Milner didn't.  He was off first chance he got.

Fuck off, Barry dragged us through the mud with his News of the World piece, and would have gone long before had we not appointed O'Neill.

Young is the only one who behaved with dignity.

Yeah and how did we repay him.... By booing him!

To be fair I thought Young got a pretty good reception. The booes started (by where I sit anyway) when he petulantly hacked Albrighton down

I clapped, but then I left after 43 minutes.

It wasn't just him and Liverpool that got off lightly. How did that cheeky fu**er in the Holte lower get away with going mad celebrating when they scored!  >:(

I know.

I saw them doing it the first time and I thought that they were joking i.e. Villa fans being sarcastic to show how crap we are.

Then I saw them doing it again and I was like WTF.

Have these guys never been to a football match before? Do they not know you're supposed to stay quiet when you're in the wrong end?

On a side note, anyone notice how many Chinese tourists and Asian Liverpool fans there were who you don't normally see?

It's days like yesterday and Downing's return when you really wish for an Allan Evans or Steve Mcmahon on the pitch. Someone you could never accuse of failing to hold a grudge.

Rather than wishing injury on the cowardly little weasel I hope he stays injury free for the rest of his career and succeeds in doing nothing of note with the best supporters in the world at the giants of the game turning against him and abusing him even more than we did. I hope he disappears into lower league obscurity.

And on the form he has shown so far on Merseyside (on days when he doesn't have to play against two utter dumplings who are among the worst fullbacks in the league) that is not looking particularly unlikely.

He's in a better place professionally now though isn't he? Who wouldn't want to leave this circus at the moment?

Of course and in one sense yes, foolish to deny it. However, when the bindippers finish 5th or 6th or whatever, Suarez wants to leave for CL football and Gerrard finally bows out, they will probably just end up as the best of the rest of the Premier League, playing in the Europa League with the odd cup run. And Downing's next move will be a backward one, he is only going to go downhill from now so take some solace from that. He will soon be forgotten...

Don't you believe it. The clown behind me on Sunday said that we should get him back.

Milner would have got similar treatment, but he had the luxury of the West Ham game. I imagine that won most over. Plus he stayed a season longer, the deal seemed better for us and he didn't say publicly he was gonna sign a new contract.

Anyway, Downing. I can't even bring myself to slag this lambhearted wonder off. I just wish we had the last laugh, but we don't.
...

Maybe we will.

He's not all that, and at 20 mill the scousers will have expectations. They'll be booing him themselves soon enough.

I have never booed a Villa player in 50 years apart from Hodge and this wanker.
He just doesn't get why he was booed, sign him with a broken leg, pay him squillions, he has one good half season and he cannot wait to leave.
The words rat and sinking ship have never fitted better since the man with Maradona's shirt.
If that useless lump Hutton wanted to get himself in the Villa fan's good books then a Long-like challenge on this weasel would have surely done it, but like the other guy said, no-one even tackled him, and his bessie mate Warnock was having a laugh with him all game.
I actually think he got off really lightly >:(

I feel so sorry for Scott Dann, suffering a ruptured testicle. That just sounds utterly horrific, and yet...if anyone should have had their name on that bullet, it should have been that weasel prick Downing. Sadly Hutton didn't sharpen his studs that day and launch a few maniacal tackles.

He was up against Warnock - his former team-mate.

If only he was up against Hutton...

In his post match interview, Downing looked and spoke like the snake he is. Never to be forgiven.
