Still isn't getting any luckier as he gets older.

I'm sure there's a good goalkeeper in there somewhere trying to get out...

Enckelman was one of those who stood up and was counted toward the end of the season, helping to save us from relegation. He was superb in that massive six pointer at Upton Park. Think it finished 2-2.

That goal, though. Lawd.

I think there is a rather myopic, bias view of Enklemanns career at VP.As mellin said, i remember him making a few game saving saves when we was flirting with relegation. He was a much better goalie than given credit for.

Regarding that night, Enkleman made no mistake, Ellery did.IF he touched the ball then fine, but did he?He did'nt know, and Ellery certainly did'nt....the goal should/nt have been given.

Personally i would have decked that twat who came on, so i suppose you have to credit him for that.

Peter has been one of those individuals damned by history through no real fault of his own. Had he tested that Nose, he may have become the Cantona of goalkeeping!  ;)

I have to disagree, Enckelman made two errors, failing to trap the ball and then giving chase. Twunt though Elleray was and doubtless remains, I think presented with Enckelman's actions, I can understand why he allowed the goal.

Dont like to read anything that takes me back to that dreadful night, poor old Peter wasnt too clever in the Villa park game later in the season either.

The thing is it wasn't just that night, it seemed to be everytime we played them. I seem to remember him bottling a challenge which then gave them the 1st or 2nd at our place later on in the year.

And as mentioned, although Elleray is a twunk, Encklemans actions and body language meant everyone who saw it live thought it was goal. Compare and contrast when Carroll clawed the ball back out against Spurs. He continued as if he had actually made the save and the Linesman and Ref who were behind play gave him the decision.

Still havent forgiven him for that moment!

His performance in the West Ham game, which effectively saved us from relegation, was enough for me.
